Salah (Kit counter), Ashraf and Gosia - Sinai Divers Dahab
Well after a nervous start as never scuba dived before and after my friend pulled out I went into Sinai divers Dahab on my own!!. This is a big thing for me!. But Gosha on reception immediatly put me at ease and went through all the different packages with me and fitted everything around my Holiday so I wasnt away from my friend on the beach too much. I got in 5 Dives and became a Scuba Diver!. I was kitted out by a really helpful man behind the Kit counter (i forget his name im sorry) with everything i needed then introduced to my very own locker and my very own Dive master .... Ashraf Soliman. What can I say, well the underwater world was the most amazing and beautiful thing I have ever seen, like a trip to Mars with alien creatures. All the different fish and slugs and corals were pointed out too me and the confined water dives were great fun too. I loved learning all the safety drills and hand signals. I give the highest credit to Ashraf as I NEVER felt scared or in danger or pannicked at any time, he put me totally at ease, kept me safe and we had such fun, giggling untill my mask filled up with water :). I am addicted now and want to go back and dive with you guys again. Thank you so much to everyone at Sinai divers for making a dream come true, being so proffesional and to Ashraf for being such a brilliant instructor. Thank you , Thank you , and to anyone who has never dived before DO IT !!! Its brilliant!!

Well here we are again...

I did say "I will be back" but this time in Sharm instead of Dahab. This was my third trip over to Egypt this year and my third diving week with your team. Once again I had a fabulous time and it is great to see that the standards are of the highest quality whichever location I mate-
rialise in. Most of this week was spent with Pete and Crowley.
Pete I have to say your briefings were something to behold and your dive site maps would quite happily site alongside any "Jackson Pollock". I have to say that as well as having a great time I also learnt a great deal as well from you Pete by just watching a master at work. Cheers.
All joking aside, many thanks again for a great week and as with before I would not
hesitate to recommend you to others and
strangely enough I already have..

Diving with Clive in Dahab
We booked referrals for the Open Water course with Sinai Divers in Dahab, after completing the theory & confined waters in Scotland, and upon a recommendation from our Scottish instructors.

This recommendation was most definitely waranted: we were very impressed by the friendly, relaxed and yet very organised & professional approach of the Sinai Divers team.

3 members of the family (parents & one of the children) became scuba divers, with very different speed of learning.... yet Clive Hanna, our instructor, made sure that each of us felt comfortable at every step of the way. The ladies in the office and the technical team were equally flexible, patient and helpful.... and all with a great sense of humour! This very international team is fantastic and a credit to the PADI association - thank you for making a dream of a lifetime come through & for contributing to making our holidays a fantastic experience! We will be back next autumn!

Hendrik and Timur - Sinai Divers Dahab
What a month it was!! When I enrolled onto Hendik’s ‘2009 Divemaster boot-camp’ I had no idea how much fun I would have (and how totally exhausted I would be every night).

I am so glad I had my Divemaster buddy Timur to help me through everything.....I don’t know how I would have managed without you mate! The mapping project at the Islands was one of the best days diving I have ever had (except for the photo you took which, frankly, makes me look ridiculous). I hope Hendrik isn’t beasting you too much now I’m gone.

Obviously I have to say a special thank you to Hendrik! You are a hard task-meister mate but I am very glad that I chose to do the DM course with you and Sinai Divers Dahab. Thanks for being patient and teaching me all the additional stuff that you didn’t really need to cover. It was a great experience (especially the scary night dives). See you at the next IDC...

Finally, the ‘snorkel test’ was something of a surprise; I’m only glad I managed to hold it all down and not perform a demonstration quality ‘Technicolor yawn’ (what was in that bottle by the way)??... on second thoughts, it‘s probably better if I don’t know.

Cheers to all the team! Simone, Johan (come on Jenson Button!), Gosia (how’s the swim test coming along??), Eid, Salah, ‘freedive’ Andy, Rosa, Clive, Jeanette, Ashraf, Gio and Peter.
See you all again soon!

The green turtle accompanied by two of her closest "friends"
Yesterday evening (October 10, 2009 19.00hrs) we went for a night dive. It was Janique's first and my 4 or 5th, but the first in Egypt. We thought the house reef was a good location to get acquainted with the night dive circumstances and we expected to see some other fish and animals and different activity patterns compared to the daytime rithm, but nothing spectacular.

Then at about 5 mtrs, 10 minutes after entry there was a new "rock" somehow misplaced in the sand. Margriet's torch went to enlight the "rock". The rock started to move as we came closer and the countour of a mature green turtle showed itself in the beam of the torch. We probably disturbed her whilst sleeping and she swam away with powerful but all so gently moves of it's flippers. The two "remora's" attached to it's shield did not move a fin.

Of course we could not follow since otherwise we would have lost our bearings in the night. We retreated a bit to our original path to the local reefs and continued our nightdive. Then after a few minutes, going to the first reef, this "shadow" appeared again. This time we were not as surprised as the first encounter but this also applied to the turtle. She swam away in the dark... We had almost arrived at the first reef and were welcomed by the first lion fish who followed us to hunt in the light of our torches. At the two reefs that we planned to visit this night we saw many lion fish, a boxshrimp, a red reef crab and many other fish that one can also see at broad daylight.

As we reached about 60 bar we started to head back to the beach. We swam from the reef towards the first navigation point, the line of a fixed buoy. There again the turtle rested on the sand under the buoy. She seemed to be stuck in or under the line fixed to the concrete block. We swam towards her and, quite obvious, she noticed us as well. This time we could come much closer then at the earlier encounters, before she started to move. Luckily she wasn't stuck under the line. Since it would have been quite an adventure to release her in the night whilst she wasn't too happy being stuck. So after we had a very good look at her and her two companions she returned her flight to the dark surroundings again.

We returned to the shore quite impressed with these three encounters with this magnificent animal. How slow and handicapped it seems to be as the stereotype is. So gently but powerfull it flew away in the water without so much as the move of one or the other flipper. And still accompanied by two of her closest "friends".

Clive - my instructor
A big thank you to the team at Dahab

I was SO pleased that I chose Sinai Divers Dahab for my PADI Open Water course last week. The so called ‘closed water’ challenges, fun in themselves, were punctuated with breathtaking wildlife like the cuttlefish we met during one early session. My emergency ascent exercise was made more fun by a Lion Fish darting about around our feet, which was upset by a conger eel nearby. Taking this part of the course in a swimming pool in England would have been a big mistake.

Once I had mastered the basics, the final two dives at Moray Gardens were simply fantastic. I don’t have the words to express the extraordinary beauty of the reef, and the wonderful feeling I had afterwards. What I do know is that I have seriously fallen in love with the sport!

I was genuinely surprised by the helpful-
ness and sheer enthusiasm of the staff. Their professionalism & quality gave me the confidence to progress rapidly.

A big thanks to Clive, my instructor, for exactly the right mix of skill, humour and professional care.

I shall be back!

Bye, bye Alejandro - We will all miss you - Sinai Divers - Sharm el Sheikh
MY EXPERINCE IN SINAI DIVERS

I arrive to Sharm el Sheikh; the 23 of October 2008, without any idea how diving worked here. Two of friends Timo and Sarah, they were working at Sinai Divers. They took me the next day (24 - October - 2008) to meet “Friday” the manager. I arrive to the dive center and went to the counter and ask for him. One girl call Alex welcomes me to Sinai Divers, and, told me how can I help you? With a big smile. I was amazed of the treatment and how every buddy looks happy and relax. Then from the back of the big window in the counter, appears a told man with black glasses and ask me the same. How can I Help you? I thought it was another of the Staff of Sinai Divers. “BUT THEN HE PRESENT HIS SELF” It was Friday. I was surprised, so simple, friendly and easy going. “THE WAY A MANAGER HAS TO BE”

We start talking, after a couple of minutes he told me, that for the moment there was no work available “BUT” That if I want I can go diving with Sinai Divers for free to get experience in the red sea. WOW, the first time somebody offers me something without expecting something back. That was all, but each week for 3 months I came back to ask for work. On till one day he told me ok, you can start tomorrow your trying. THANK GOD, HAHAHAHAHA FINALLY A GOOD PLACE TO WORK. Since that day I start my journey with Sinai Divers. I was very lucky to meet so many amazing persons, all of them so different but at the same time with a big passion for the environment, diving and teaching. Each one of the Instructors, crew, tank, equipment, transfer and counter people, gave me so many things, KNOWLEDGE, HUMBOLNESS, WIZDOM, ETC.

I can say that this 8 months working for Sinai Divers were amazing. I have to thank the Instructors, crew, tank, equipment, transfer and counter people, for being so friendly and helpful all the time. Without them this amazing Dive Center could work the same. And special thanks to Rolf, Petra, Friday & Ingrid, for giving me the opportunity to work for Sinai Divers, and learn so much.

THANKS TO ALL, HOPE TO SEE YOU AGAIN, HERE OR IN ANOTHER PART OF THE WORLD.

We finished off with two dives under The Arch at Blue Hole
Just back from Dahab!

(Well actually that's not quite true, it was three weeks ago but that seems like three minutes once you're back at work!) Had a fantastic time as usual. Great diving experiences! Nancy and I completed the tech diver training to Extended Range under the expert instruction of Johan (thank you Johan, 11 straight days putting up with me!) and we finished off with two dives under The Arch at Blue Hole. An amazing experience and we can't wait to get back there to do it again and hopefully go to the bottom of The Canyon, weather permitting.

Fantastic dives with Andy and wonderful to finish our visit with a close turtle encounter. It was brilliant to see everyone at Sinai Divers (Johan, Andy, Eid, Salah, Gosia, Simone, Salmee, Hendrick, Nicole, Tim, Rosa) and we both hope that you are all well. Sorry not see Ashraf but hope you had a very nice Ramadan in Cairo. Really fun to dive with Andreas and to meet Christiane.

Simone, Gosia and Johan - Team Sinai Divers - Dahab
To the team at Dahab

After spending two random weeks over the summer diving with you all I would just like to say thanks for looking after me so well. I had a ball.
You are a great bunch of people who are friendly, personable and really know your stuff, all of which just adds to what is an all round professionally run organisation. I have been lucky enough to dive in many places around the world and you all are at the top of the list as “best of the bunch”.
Would not hesitate to recommend you to anyone and already have.
Looking forward to coming back for a few more underwater adventures in the not too distant future.

Regards

Slim
