Gozo is the smaller & greener of the two Maltese islands. Here you will find a very special type of mediterranean holiday atmosphere.
If you enjoy good dives and good food combined with a relaxing and private holiday, then Gozo is just the place. Our Partner Center in Gozo, Calypso Diving Centre, operating since 1985, is situated in Marsalforn, a little harbor town on the North coast of the island.
Diving Operation:
Half-day trips by jeep are the norm. The multilingual team of certified instructors have an intimate knowledge of every dive site, so that you can get the maximum pleasure from your dive time, with the peace of mind that you will be in safe hands all the time. You will be given a full briefing of the site, every time.
At least once a week, a boat for a full day trip to the nearby island of Comino is chartered.
On Gozo advanced divers (PADI Advanced or equivalent) can also hire a car and do their own shore dives. Calypso is the only one offering "Nitrox for free" to all licensed divers in the Maltese Islands.
Calypso also conducts all the diving courses offered by PADI up to Divemaster level and by BSAC up to Instructor level.
Dive Sites:
Gozo’s dive sites are quite numerous for such a tiny island, and they vary from spectacular underwater landscapes, reefs, caverns and caves, to wrecks, drop-offs and tunnels.
The fauna and flora are rich, and whilst large fish are rare, there are many smaller fish, tube worms, sponges, crayfish, moray eels and rays. There are also a few wreck dives.
Most of the dive sites are quite suitable for both, the beginner and the most advanced diver.
The clarity of the water is rarely below 25 meters and our seas are practically free of tides and currents. Also, the water temperature is never below 16° Celsius in winter and reaches in summer a max. of 28° Celsius.
Getting there:
Malta is reachable by plane in 3-4 hours from most European larger cities. Getting to the island of Gozo by ferry (25 minutes) is an adventure in itself.
Apart from the extensive diving services, Calypso can take care of your complete holiday package including transfers, hotel accommodation, private villas with pool, self catering apartments, guest-houses and car hire.

The largest underground river system in the world, the "d'zenots" in Maya, "cenotes" in Spanish, is the main attraction for scuba divers visiting the Yucatan Peninsula. Centuries ago, rain water on its way to the Caribbean Sea formed cavities in the limestone of the Yucatan Peninsula by hollowing out caves, creating fantastic formations. When parts of the caves grew too large, their ceiling collapsed and cenotes and sinkholes were formed.
The cenotes, which are distributed in the jungle are the doors to an incredible underwater world, providing the best cave & cavern diving imaginable. With water as clear as air the visibility is unbelievable as the diver glides through a color-filled fantasy world. The gentle current and mild water temperature (about 75º F/24º C) create a perfect underwater environment for divers of all experience levels which offers endless opportunities for spectacular uw photography. Yucatek Divers provides the highest quality equipment and professional training required to ensure the ultimate diving experience.
