LIEBLING VIELER PHOTOGRAPHEN
Der Tauchplatz “Bannerfish Bay” liegt südlich von Dahabs Lighthouse in der Mitte der Masbat Bucht und ist immer gut für eine Überraschung.
Nur wenige Schritte von unserer Tauchbasis entfernt, beginnt der Tauchgang entlang eines langsam abfallenden Hangs, wo ihr im Seegras viele kleine Organismen wie Seepferdchen, Anglerfische, Nacktschnecken, Muränen, Steinfische und vieles mehr entdecken könnt. Auch Grüne Schildkröten sind im Seegras regelmässig anzutreffen und bereichern jeden Tauchgang.
Schwimmt man ein bisschen weiter, erreicht ihr ein kleines Riff, worüber Schulen von Bannerfischen schweben, die diesem Tauchplatz seinen Namen geben. All das und noch vieles mehr bietet unser geliebtes Hausriff.

TREFFT DAHABS RÖHRENAAL-KOLONIE
Der Tauchplatz „Eel Garden“ verdankt seinen Namen den zahlreichen Röhrenaalen, die den Meeresboden wie ein Teppich bedecken.
Nachdem ihr das Riffdach überquert habt, taucht ihr in einem schmalen Kanal ab, der sich zu einer grossen, flach abfallenden Sandfläche hin öffnet, die zu beiden Seiten von einem farbenfrohen Korallenriff gesäumt wird. Nach einigen Minuten entlang des Riffs tauchen die ersten Röhrenaale im Blau auf. Diese besonderen Fische tanzen in der Strömung wie synchronisierte Schwimmer und verschwinden im Sand, wenn Taucher sich zu sehr nähern. Dieses Schauspiel wird nie langweilig, auch nicht für Tauchguides, die diesen Platz schon oft besucht haben.
Auf 20 Metern geht der Hang in eine ebene Fläche über, wo ihr Korallenblöcke und einige Tischkorallen finden werdet. Häufig trifft man auf eine grosse Schule von Barrakudas, die das Gebiet patrouillieren.
Am Rückweg könnt ihr auf 5-10 Metern ein gesundes Riff mit einer Vielzahl von Hart- und Weichkorallen bewundern, das nur von der Vielzahl an Fischen übertroffen werden kann. Haltet hier Ausschau nach dem seltenen Seegras-Geisterpfeifenfisch.

Das „Lighthouse“ ist einer der beliebtesten Tauchplätze in Dahab und perfekt geeignet für Taucher jeden Levels. Selbst an windigen Tagen bietet der Tauchplatz einen sehr einfachen Einstieg, was das Tauchen immer ermöglicht.
Der Tauchgang beginnt über einem sandigen Hang, der zu einer großen Seegraswiese führt. Haltet hier Ausschau nach Seepferdchen und Flügelrossfischen, die meistens in Pärchen auftreten. Ausserdem besteht die Möglichkeit den seltenen Anglerfisch zu finden.
Zu eurer Linken beginnt das farbenfrohe Korallenriff mit seinen für diesen Tauchplatz typischen Bewohnern wie Langnasen-Doktorfische oder kleine Schulen von Seebrassen. Die Riffwand wird durch viele Sandflächen und gigantischen Korallentürmen aufgelockert, die aus dem Blau Richtung Oberfläche wachsen.
Folgt der Riffwand und schwebt über oder zwischen den beeindruckenden Korallentürmen bis ihr den Sattel erreicht.
Diese Korallenzunge ist ein guter Platz um nach Skorpion- und Krokodilfischen Ausschau zu halten und mit ein bisschen Glück findet ihr auch einem Steinfisch. Auf der nördlichen Seite des Sattels befindet sich ein wunderschöner Korallengarten wo eine grosse Fächerkoralle am Ende auf euch wartet. Während Nachttauchgängen kann man Spanische Tänzerinnen, jagende Muränen, schlafende Schildkröten und Papageifische sowie verschiedene Tintenfische antreffen.

EINE AUSSERGEWÖHNLICHE ERFAHRUNG
Das Blue Hole ist womöglich der berüchtigtste Tauchplatz Ägyptens.
Die senkrechten Wände dieses riesigen Lochs im Riffdachs fallen bis auf 120 m in die Tiefe ab.
Links vom Einstieg, auf einer Tiefe von 56 m, befindet sich „The Arch“ – ein Tunnel, der das Blue Hole mit dem offenen Meer verbindet. Dieser Tunnel liegt unterhalb der Sporttauchergrenze und ist nur für ausgebildete technische Taucher zugänglich.
Wir beginnen unseren Tauchgang vom Strand aus, tauchen entweder durch das Blue Hole oder entlang der Riffwand bis zum Sattel, der die flache Verbindung zur Aussenwand des Blue Holes ist. Die Korallenformation und deren prächtige Farben sind wahrlich atemberaubend.
Je nach Ausbildungsgrad, können unterschiedliche Tiefen für den Tauchgang gewählt werden. Haltet auf 10 m Tiefe Ausschau nach der seltenen roten Anemone auf eurem Weg zurück zum Ausstieg.
In den letzten Jahrzehnten hat der Tauchplatz einen schlechten Ruf erhalten. Viele sind hier beim Austesten ihrer Limits tödlich verunglückt, woran die Grabinschriften auf den Klippen entlang der Küste erinnern. Die Gefahr des Hole Holes ist, dass der Boden weit ausserhalb der Sicht eines Sporttauchers liegt.

EIN MYSTISCHES ABENDTEUER
“The Canyon” ist einer der bekanntesten Tauchplätze Dahabs und ein Muss für alle Höhlenliebhaber – eine wahrlich bleibende Erinnerung. Der Canyon zieht sich aus einer Tiefe von 52 m wie ein Tunnel durch den Meeresboden und ist meistens nur durch eine kleine Spalte nach oben geöffnet.
Nach dem einfachen Einstieg von der Küste, durchquert ihr eine sandige Lagune, die zu einem langsamen abfallenden Hang voller Korallen führt. Der gleichzeitig beeindruckende und leicht gespenstische Canyon kommt bald in euer Blickfeld. Der Canyon hat drei Öffnungen: auf 12m befindet sich der sogenannte Fish Bowl auf 20 m befindet sich der grosse Einstieg und auf 52 m gibt es eine kleine Öffnung.
Zwischen diesen Öffnungen schliessen sich die Wände und formen einem Tunnel. Von oben betrachtet, erinnert der Canyon an den gewellten Mund einer Muschel. Der Eingang des Canyons liegt auf 20 m und der Boden befindet sich an dieser Stelle auf 30 m.
Geniesst einige Augenblicke am Boden des Canyons und bewundert den überwältigenden Ausblick – wenn Sonnenlicht durch die Risse im Stein fällt während man selbst im Halbdunkel des Canyons schwebt. Zum Schluss schwimmt ihr durch einen beeindruckenden Korallengarten, wo ihr oft auf einen Oktopus treffen könnt.

FRIEDVOLLE SCHÖNHEIT
Ras Abu Galum ist ein umwerfender Tauchplatz, der in einem Nationalpark im äussersten Norden von Dahab liegt. Der Tauchplatz kann nur mit einem Kamel oder alternativ mit dem Boot erreicht werden.
Ein sandiger Hang fällt von der Küste ab und wird von beiden Seiten von einem Korallenriff gesäumt. Auf der linken Seite fällt das Riffdach zu einer steilen Wand ab, an der man öfters jagende Makrelen und Tunas beobachten kann. Außerdem gibt es Korallentürme und beeindruckende Felsformationen zu bewundern. Im Flachwasserbereich werdet ihr Schulen von bunte Rifffischen und prächtige Feuerkorallen vorfinden.

Die Bucht von Ras Abu Galum ist sehr geschützt von Wind und Wellen und daher ist es möglich dort bei jedem Wetter zu tauchen.

EIN AUFREGENDER ABSTIEG
Nördlich des Blue Holes bildet eine tiefe Kerbe im Riffdach den beeindruckenden Schlot „The Bells“.
Der Tauchgang beginnt in einem kleinen Pool im Riffdach. Der Abstieg führt euch durch den vertikalen Schlot, der zu drei Seiten geschlossen ist. Auf 26 m schliesst sich „The Bells“ zu allen Seiten bevor ihr auf 28 m das Blau der Aussenkante des Blue Holes erreicht.
Hier taucht ihr entlang der atemberaubenden Steilwand umgeben von kristallklarem Wasser. Die Wand ist durchsetzt mit kleinen Höhlen und Überhängen in denen schwarze Korallen wachsen. Zusätzlich könnt ihr euch an einer Vielzahl von Anemonen und deren Bewohnern erfreuen. Vergesst nicht gelegentlich einen Blick ins Blau zu werfen – mit etwas Glück könnt ihr dort Schildkröten oder Adlerrochen beobachten.

Gegen Ende des Tauchgangs könnt ihr über einen farbenfrohen Korallensattel in das Blue Hole tauchen und dort während eures Sicherheitsstopps Freitaucher beim Trainieren beobachten.

KLEINE BÄUME
El Shugarat bedeutet im Deutschem „Kleine Bäume“ und sobald ihr dort getaucht seid, wisst ihr auch warum. Dieser wunderschöne Tauchplatz ist nur per Boot erreichbar.
Das Boot fährt euch nahe an das Riff, sodass ihr direkt an der Riffwand ins Wasser springen könnt. Taucht ab und schwimmt entlang dieser schön bewachsenen Riffwand bis ihr eine sandige Lagune erreicht wo auf einer Tiefe von 16m der beeindruckende Canyon auf euch wartet. Während eures Abstiegs zwischen den Wänden des Canyons gibt es viel zu entdecken bis ihr auf ca. 30m schwarze Korallen erreicht. Gönnt euch einen Moment, genießt die Aussicht und haltet die Augen nach dem hübschen Langnasenbüschelbarsch offen. Verlasst den Canyon zu eurer linken Seite und schwimmt durch einen wahrhaften Wald aus Fächerkorallen, der bis ins tiefe Blau reicht, bis er aus eurer Sichtweite verschwindet. Unglaublich schön!
Während ihr langsam über dem Gorgonien-Wald aufsteigt und ihn bewundern könnt, kehrt ihr zum Riffdach zurück und schwimmt in eine der schönsten Lagunen Dahabs.
Neben gigantischen Tischkorallen könnt ihr euch an einer Vielzahl von unterschiedlichen Meeresorganismen wie Blaupunktstachelrochen, Nacktschnecken, Krokodilfische und vieles mehr erfreuen. Vergesst nicht am Ende der Lagune einen letzten Blick auf den Canyon zu werfen und macht euch bereit für euren Sicherheitsstopp.

WAHRLICH ATEMBERAUBEND
Gabr el Bint zählt zu den schönsten Tauchplätze rund um Dahab. Nur wenige Taucher besuchen diesen Tauchplatz, da er nur mit einem Kamel oder per Boot erreicht werden kann, wodurch das Riff in einem fast unberührten Zustand verblieben ist
Zwei unterschiedliche Tauchgänge sind in Gabr el Bint möglich:
Die rechte Seite, auch bekannt als die dunkle Seite, ist gekennzeichnet durch eine Steilwand, die von zahlreichen Spalten, sandigen Schluchten und Überhängen zerschnitten wird. Die Wand ist reich verziert mit gesunden Korallen.
Die linke Seite ist farbenprächtiger mit einem Wald aus Fächerkorallen. Schwimmt entlang der Wand, wo Korallenblöcke aus der Tiefe Richtung Oberfläche ragen und beobachtet dabei bunte Aggregationen von Riffbarschen und Glasfischen. Behaltet dabei auch immer wieder das Blau im Auge, wo oft Makrelen Schulen von Füsilieren jagen. Nach ungefähr 10 Minuten erscheinen beeindruckende Ansammlung von Fächerkorallen. Hier beginnt euer Aufstieg zu ca. 10 m Tiefe.
Der farbenprächtige Korallensattel führt euch in eine sandige Lagune, die parallel zur Küste verläuft. In der Lagune warten bunte Korallenblöcke auf euch, die eine Vielzahl an unterschiedlichen Riffarten, wie Riffbarsche, Skorpionfische, Papageifsche, Krokodilfische, Stachelrochen und auch oft Schildkröten, anziehen. Am Ende der Lagune trefft ihr üblicherweise auf Schulen von Schnappern.

WIE EIN LABYRINTH…
Islands ist einer der schönsten Tauchplätze in Dahab.
Der Tauchplatz ist gekennzeichnet durch ein Labyrinth aus beeindruckenden Korallenformationen, die von kleinen sandigen Pools mit scheinend blauem Wasser aufgelockert werden. Manche umgestürzte Korallenblöcke erinnern noch an ein Erdbeben in der Vergangenheit. Islands ist der perfekte Tauchplatz um sich an wunderschönen Korallen aber auch an einer einzigartigen Topografie aus Korallenblöcken, Gassen, Amphitheater und Rinnen zu erfreuen – und das alles auf max. 18m Tiefe.
Nach dem Einstieg folgt der erste Pool bevor ihr das reichverzweigte Riffsystem erreicht. Die Quantität aber auch die Qualität der Korallen ist einzigartig. Zacken- und Riffbarsche, Glasfische, Napoleons, Rotfeuerfische und eine Schule von Barrakudas am nördlichen Ende des Riffs warten auf euch.
Dieser Tauchplatz ist der absolute Liebling von vielen – ein kleines Stück vom Paradies.

EIN TAUCHPLATZ FÜR JEDEN
Moray Garden kann von Tauchern jeglichen Levels betaucht werden. Der Tauchplatz besticht mit bunten Rifffischen aber auch Walhaie und Gitarrenrochen wurden hier schon beobachtet.
Auf der rechten Seite findet ihr einen schönen Korallengarten vor, der entlang einer schmalen Wand bis auf 50 m abfällt. Der perfekte Platz um in kleinen Löchern und Spalten nach Muränen, Tintenfischen, Nacktschnecken, Skorpionfischen oder sogar kleinen Haien zu suchen. Auf eurem Weg schwimmt ihr an einem Korallenblock voll mit Glasfischen auf 22 m vorbei.
Nach eurem Aufstieg auf 7 m Tiefe, trefft ihr auf eine sandige Fläche mit Schulen von Gelbschwanz-Barrakudas. Auf der linken Seite von Moray Garden befinden sich im tieferen Bereich sandige Gassen, die das Korallenriff durchziehen. Im Flachwasserbereich wachsen bunte Korallenblöcke und Tischkorallen. Der perfekte Ort um Nacktschnecken, Muränen und Blaupunktstachelrochen zu beobachten.

Moray Garden ist einer der schönen Tauchplätze im Süden von Dahab und liegt zwischen 3 Pools und Golden Blocks. Vom sandigen Einstiegspunkt könnt ihr entweder nach rechts oder links tauchen. Eine schöne Alternative ist den Einstieg von Golden Blocks oder 3 Pools zu nutzen und nach Moray Garden zu tauchen.

FRÖHLICHE KORALLEN
Sha’ab Said ist einer der schönsten Tauchplätze, den ihr in Dahab finden könnt. Er liegt nördlich von Gabr el Bint, gleich neben dem kleinen Blue Hole und kann nur mit dem Boot erreicht werden.
Bei Sha’ab Said angekommen, könnt ihr das sich nach Norden erstreckende Riff erkennen, wo es zwei Lagunen bildet. Ihr beginnt den Tauchgang direkt vor der ersten sandigen Lagune. Der Tauchplatz eignet sich perfekt als dritter Tauchgang des Tages, da er ein sehr flaches Tauchprofil mit einer maximalen Tiefe von 20 m aufweist. Taucht in die erste Lagune und erkundet dort farbenprächtige Korallenwände bestehend aus vielen unterschiedlichen Arten.
Verlasst die Lagune und schwebt zwischen großen Korallentürmen. Vergesst nicht einen Blick in die vielen kleinen Höhlen zu werfen. Eine ausgezeichnete Tarierung ist Voraussetzung für diesen Tauchgang, da euch das Profil durch flache Passagen des Riffs führt. Durch das einfallende Sonnenlicht erstrahlen die Korallen in voller Pracht.
In der zweiten Lagune wartet Schulen von Schwarzweiß-Schnapper und Ruderfischen auf euch, die sich oft gegenseitig durch das Riff jagen. Die Korallenformationen erstrecken sich soweit die Augen reichen. Bei Hochwasser besteht die Möglichkeit einen kurzen Blick in das kleine Blue Hole zu werfen.

Bootfahrt: 55 Minuten. Der Tauchplatz ist nur wenig frequentiert. Ihr werdet vom Zustand der Korallen begeistert sein.

PACKT EURE TASCHENLAMPE EIN!
Steigt aus dem Jeep aus und ihr steht buchstäblich auf der Decke von „The Caves“. Der Tauchplatz besticht durch zwei grosse, nach vorne geöffneten Höhlen, die unter das Riffdach reichen.
Der Einstieg erinnert an jenem von einem Boot. Mit einem grossen Schritt nach vorne gelangt ihr vom Riffdach ins kühle Nass. Dieser Tauchplatz kann nur bei guten Wetterbedingungen betaucht werden.
Im Wasser angelangt, befindet sich der Eingang zur Höhle direkt neben euch. Zu beiden Seiten der Höhle findet ihr ein flaches Riff vor. Dieses Riff steht der Höhle um nichts nach. Neben prächtigen Hart- und Weichkorallen könnt ihr Nacktschnecken, Seesterne, Sandtaucher und mit etwas Glück auch juvenile Blatt-Schermesserfische beobachten.
Erkundet die Höhle und schwimmt bis nach hinten, dreht euch um und genießt die großartige Aussicht. Nicht selten schwimmen Wimpelfische und Riffbarsche auf dem Rücken entlang der Höhlendecke – ein perfekter Zeitverreib während eures Sicherheitsstopps.

Tauchen nur bei guten Wetterbedingungen möglich. Packt eine Taschenlampe für die Höhle ein. „The Caves“ ist der südlichste mit dem Auto erreichbare Tauchplatz.

FINDET DEN LANGNASENBÜSCHELBARSCH/strong>
Der Tauchplatz “Umm Sid” besticht durch seine Fischvielfalt und durch seine abwechslungsreiche Riffstruktur, die in ausserordentlichem Zustand erhalten geblieben sind.
Der Einstieg befindet sich in einem breiten in das Riffdach eingebetteten Kanal. Schwebt über eine steil abfallende Korallenzunge bis ihr einen sandigen Hang erreicht, der von Röhrenaalen bewohnt wird. Folgt dem Hang zu einem wunderschönen Korallengarten. Erfahrene Taucher können bis auf 30 m abtauchen und den spektakulären Ausblick gefüllt mit riesigen Fächerkorallen geniessen. Haltet die Augen offen – hier verstecken sich die Langnasenbüschelbarsche.
Steigt langsam über Tischkorallen auf und schwimmt entlang einer dicht bewachsenen Riffwand zurück zum Einstieg. Haltet auf eurem Weg Ausschau nach Nacktschnecken und erfreut euch an den bunten Rifffischen und Glasfischen.
